WHO WE ARE
Alvechurch WI is a friendly community group, meeting in a welcoming space the heart of our village. Our 40-strong membership includes both long-standing members and recent ‘recruits’ – and always room for more.

WHAT WE LOVE
As a member of Alvechurch WI you’ll enjoy lots of good times, interesting experiences and firm friendships. Our hardworking committee is a great balance of experienced and new members, who endeavour to organise sociable, fun-filled evenings all year round. Our monthly meeting programme provides a variety of fascinating speakers, demonstrations and more – ranging from comedy monologues and Morris dancing, to learning about local social projects and flexing our creative skills. We love getting together with other Worcestershire WIs for countryside walks; and holding occasional ‘natter nights’ – chatty, happy evenings spent swapping books, enjoying refreshments and a raffle. We also endeavour to take advantage of our members’ wide-ranging expertise to get involved in our local community.

WHY JOIN US
Alvechurch WI proudly celebrated its 95th birthday in 2024 – showing just how much our members have always enjoyed taking part. If you’d like to come and meet us, there will be a warm welcome!

WHO WE ARE
First set up in 1916, Barnt Green WI was the very first WI group to form in Worcestershire. After a short gap in the early 2000s we reformed in 2016, and today we have more than 50 members… and counting!

WHAT WE LOVE
Barnt Green WI members want to inspire women and to be inspired. We have good attendance at our varied meetings, which always include the chance to relax and socialise. Recent speakers have included family magistrates, a prison chaplain, people who work in hospices, the National Gardens Scheme organiser for Worcestershire, and the owner of a busy antiques business. There’s even a spot of gentle keep fit in January to help those New Year’s resolutions! Our upcoming plans include an evening of indoor ‘kurling’, talks on Antarctica and beekeeping, and a visit from a Paralympian double gold medallist. As a member you’ll also have craft evenings, outings, quizzes and a Christmas dinner to enjoy. Gardening, and outings to open gardens (with tea!) are another favourite with many of our members. We also have a walking group, and a new craft group is on the cards.

WHY JOIN US
You’ll find that Barnt Green WI has a great atmosphere. We’re always forming new friendships, and enjoying fresh challenges. Do come along and meet us.
